APHA in association with the Federation of Agrochemical Retailer Merchants (FARM) established an independent company
called BASIS in 1993 to ensure that plant protection and animal health products are stored and used correctly. In 2010
BASIS rebranded its name to IASIS Ltd (Irish Agricultural Supply Industry Standards). IASIS is an approved education
service provider under FETAC (now QQI).
Plant Protection - IASIS provides pesticide training for distributors, a QQI Level 5 Handling and Distribution of
Pesticides for both professional and non professional pesticides. These courses comply with current regulatory
obligations under DAFM.
Additionally, IASIS is approved by DAFM to maintain the ongoing training requirement for registered Pesticide
Advisors (PA) under a recognised Continuous Professional Education (CPE) approved scheme. This register is available
on the DAFM website and
IASIS website.
Animal Remedies - IASIS in conjunction with select secondary providers, provides accredited training for the "Retail,
Sale and Supply of Animal Remedies" course as approved by both QQI and DAFM. This is compliance with the Animal
Remedies Legislation.
IASIS is directed by a Committee representing Government Departments, Stage Agencies and industry representatives.
